Zainuddin or ZAM to fellow journalists, is on leave in the United Kingdom. Sources said he was asked to go on leave by prime minister Abdullah Ahmad (Badawi) following his now famous reaction when interviewed on the phone by Al-Jazeera.
Although the next general elections (not erection, please) is speculated to be called before April 2008, it is understood that PM Abdullah will drop (some say sack) ZAM as information minister and as the ruling party's candidate for Merbok parliamentary constituency in Kedah.
Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs minister and former long-serving Parliamentary Secretary to the Information Ministry, Shapie Afdal, is holding the fort as acting information minister.
ZAM's blunder was brought to Abdullah's attention by his close friend and confidante who is now a controversial high-flying corporate figure.
If the above infomation is authentic, I believed that Malaysians in general and I for one will not cry!
ZAM or his ministerial aides are welcomed to contact me to clarify or deny this information.
