Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is making his political comeback, a decision welcomed by many in Malaysia. The former deputy prime minister said this in an interview with the BBC and carried by malaysiakini.com.
"I think we are ready for a change," he was quoted as saying. That is correct Brother Anwar, we definitely are looking for a change, for the better and not for the worse.
Anwar correctly said that Malaysia "has lost its competitiveness. Corruption is endemic, far worse than before." He also admitted that there were racial tensions.
Malaysia is scheduled to go to the polls by 2009 but speculation is rife predicting a snap elections before the end of the year.
Welcome back to the national political arena, Brother Anwar!
