Allah - there is no God but He

Orthodox and Coptic Christians in the Middle East, North Africa, Europe and Central Asia celebrated Christmas on January 7. In most of the Arab world, Coptic Christians conducted their prayers in Arabic and thus God is Allah.

In Arabic, Allah is the proper name of God, however to Muslims, we know Him generally through His attributes. These attributes describe how Allah manifests Himself to us. Allah's attributes are innumerable since human intellect cannot possibly comprehend every aspect of the Supreme Being.

In the Holy Quran we read; ''And to Allah alone belong all perfect attributes. So call Him by these. And leave alone those who deviate from the right way with respect to His Attributes.'' (7:181)

''Allah - there is no God but He, the Living, the Self-Subsisting and All-Sustaining. Slumber seizes Him not, nor sleep. To Him belongs whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth. Who is he that will intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is before them and what is behind them, and they encompass nothing of His knowlege except what He pleases. His knowledge extends over the heavens and the earth; and the care of them burdens Him not; and He is the High, the Great.'' (2:256)

To Muslims, there is no God beside Him, the Knower of the unseen and the seen. He is Gracious, the Merciful. He is Allah, the Creator, the Maker, the Fashioner.

Muslims must not think of Him as having a son or a father as the Christians do - ''the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.''

Allah is the One and only God, the Only One to whom worship is due; all other things or beings that we can think of are His creatures and in no way comparable to Him.

The Holy Quran (Surah Al-Ikhlas):

'' Say; He is Allah, the One,
Allah, the Eternal, Absolute,
He begetteth not, Nor is He begotten,
And there is none Like unto Him.''

Pak Tuan,

Begitulah kira-kira skrip politiknya"

I agree that there is only 1 Allah. please see the following link:

http://www.islamic-awareness.org/Quran/Sources/Allah/BibAllah.html"

When I went to the link I was surprised to read the following:

"....the word Allah appears throughout Arabic translations of the Bible, since it is simply the Arabic name for Almighty God. Insha'llah, the examples below will help quell the doubts of those who have been duped into believing that Muslims worship a different god - either by the hostile media or by Christian missionary propaganda."

This is from an Islamic website.

Henry, as stated, Allah is Arabic for God. Arab Christians refer to the Almighty as Allah. Similarly, to the Malays in general god is tuhan, but in Islam God is Allah, that is the oneness of Allah, without having a son or a father or anyhting else.

If the prophets of Christianity and Islam are the same, and if God Almighty is referred to as Allah in the Old Testament, than is this not the same Allah? I am a bit confused here because I thought the Abrahamic religions all worshiped the same God?

Henry, Muslims or Islam worship only one god, that is Allah and not any other god referred to as Allah, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit/Holy Ghost.

I completed my secondary education in a Christian mission school where the head referred to as Brother Director and most of the teachers are/were Catholic Christian Brothers from Ireland, France, Canada or India. There was/is a chapel in the school and during my six years of eduction, I never heard the word Allah mentioned as the Christian God, which was referred to as The Lord, Lord Jesus or simply God. Not Allah.

If only you know the striking differences between Judeo-Christianity and Pauline Christianity.

Judeo-Christianity refers to teachings of Jesus/Isa, peace be upon him, and Pauline Christianity refers to teachings of Paul, who is recognised in the Christian world as the founder of Christianity.

Fourteen epistles or letters of Paul are also included in the New Testament.

Dr Maurice Bucaille, the famous French scholar, introduces Paul in the following words;

'Paul is the most controversial figure of Chrisianity. He was considered to be a traitor to Jesus' thought by the latter's family and by apostles who had stayed in Jerusalem in the circle around James. Paul created Christianity at the expense of those whom Jesus had gathered around him to spread his teachings.'

The Encyclopedia Britannica describes Paul as follows;

'One group among the writers, represented for example by W.Wrede, who were by no mean opposed to Paul, opine that Paul changed Christianity to such an extent that he has become its second founder. In reality, he is the founder of that 'Church Christianity' which is totally different from the Chistianity brought by Jesus. They say that 'Follow Jesus or Follow Paul', but both cannot be followed simultaneously.'

The ideology preached by Paul is in total contradiction to the teachings of Jesus, who distinctly proclaims that God is one and only, with nobody equal to Him, and like many other prophets, Jesus was only a messenger sent by God. This message, found in the Gospels, is fully identical and similar to what we find in the Qur'an.

'He is One, and there is none beside Him.' - Mark 12;32.

Paul exploited the name and status of Jesus, taking him equal to God, deifying his personality. He defines Jesus in the following words;

'For in Him all the fullness God was pleased to dwell.' - The letter of Paul to the Colossians 1;19.

'For in Him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily.' - The letter of Paul to the Colossians 2;9.
